A Bite of Summer

Posted on: 11 May 2020

Love Irish Food had a great line up planned for the Bloom festival this year, however like so many other wonderful events planned, this has, understandably, been cancelled as a result of the current pandemic. But that does not mean that summer is cancelled. The Love Irish Food member brands that keep local communities working together, are up for a summer celebration of food and drink. In the absence of Bloom and all of the great local Irish food festivals, Love Irish Food is planning a digitally led, community based campaign to showcase its brands and the family of Love Irish Food members over eight days from Thursday 14th of May 2020 to Thursday 21st of May with the objective of getting the nation behind supporting #LoveIrishFood during this unique time. We want to bring the spirit of local community food festivals to people at home, with a Bite of Summer.

Executive Director of Love Irish Food, Kieran Rumley said: “Shoppers have become increasingly aware of local Irish food producers in recent weeks. These producers have and will continue to provide great continuity of supply to Irish supermarkets. We depend on them and greatly value the service that they provide. Over the coming months these local companies will continue to keep the shelves stocked and keep local communities working together.

Local food & garden festivals are always a great part of Summer in Ireland, and will be sadly missed this Summer. So this year we would like to bring a flavour of these Summer festivals to people at home. Over 40 Love Irish Food brands will come together from Thursday 14th of May to Thursday 21st of May to bring flavour and fun to communites across Ireland. There will be competitions with Love Irish Food member hampers to be won throughout the day together with great shopping vouchers on Love Irish Food website www.loveirshfood.ie and facebook page. We look forward to eight days of food and fun”.
