Jobs Boost for Dublin as Lidl Ireland To Open Two New Dublin Stores Supporting More Than 600 Jobs Through the Developments and €21 Million Local Investment in the Capital

Two new state-of-the-art stores in Ballymun and Shackleton are designed to offer Dublin shoppers an exceptional shopping experience with unbeatable prices.

Lidl Ireland have offered a welcome economic boost to the capital with two new stores on Balcurris Road in Ballymun, and Shackleton Drive in west Dublin, in addition to the retailer’s new city centre store on Aungier Street which opened on October 15th. The new stores have supported more than 550 jobs through the construction phase and will create an additional 59 new permanent jobs with the retailer. The developments have also seen an investment of more than €21 million into the local communities who will have access to Lidl’s high-quality products at the best value on the market.

Tomorrow morning, Thursday, October 22nd, to mark the opening, Lidl Ballymun are to welcome representatives fromBallymun Regional Youth Resource Centre to accept a donation of €1,000 to help to support the work they do to empower young people from Ballymun and the surrounding areas to reach their full potential.

 

Twenty minutes away in Shackleton in northwest of the capital, Shackleton’s new Lidl store will also open on Shackleton Drive. The store team have arranged a charitable donation of €1,000 to support Lucan Disability Action Group.

 

A welcome feature of these modern new builds is a large bakery section, welcoming shoppers daily with the smell of freshly baked breads and pastries, one of Lidl’s most popular ranges. A Lidl to Go coffee machine is also available giving customers the option of a wallet friendly hot beverage for only €1 The stores will feature convenient car park spaces on site, including reserved spaces for families and disabled shoppers. The modern buildings are fully equipped with an ISO 50001 certified Energy Management System as well as a spacious interior layout, high ceilings and wide aisles creating a comfortable shopping experience for customers.

 

Savvy shoppers can also save even more on their groceries when they shop with Lidl Plus, the retailer’s innovative instant rewards app that promises to save shoppers up to €10 per week using exclusive coupons, available to download from Irish app stores. Since the onset of the pandemic, Lidl have introduced a large number of protective measures in stores including in-store sanitation stations, Perspex till guards, traffic light queue management systems and signage and in-store announcements to encourage social distancing so customers and employees can shop and work in a safe and secure environment.
