Kepak boosts career opportunities for women through new partnership

Posted on: 08 Mar 2021

Women working at Kepak will gain access to an industry-leading suite of career development tools and mentoring opportunities as part of a new strategic partnership with Meat Business Women, the female-led group that champions women in the global meat industry.

As a sponsor and strategic partner, Kepak secures priority access to Meat Business Women’s programme of events, networking opportunities and mentorship schemes. It will also provide expertise and input into the group’s strategic direction and support its wider ambition of raising the profile of women in the meat industry.

Simon Walker, CEO Kepak Group, says: We are delighted to announce on International Women’s Day our new strategic partnership with Meat Business Women, a female-led group that champions women in the global meat industry.  We, at Kepak, are committed to promoting female talent and raising the profile of women within our organisation. Our new partnership offers us the opportunity to continue to develop female talent in the business by enabling networking and mentoring and providing women within our organisation the opportunities and skills they need to succeed.

Laura Ryan, chair of Meat Business Women, says: “We are delighted to welcome Kepak as one of our strategic partners and look forward to working even more closely with its brilliant team. We know from speaking to hundreds of women in the global meat industry that networking and mentoring can make a huge difference to women’s career paths. It’s fantastic that Kepak is investing proactively in the development of female talent and giving women throughout the business the tools they need to succeed.”

Earlier this year, a report commissioned by Meat Business Women revealed that women make up 36% of the meat industry’s global workforce. However, in comparison to other sectors, the meat sector has fewer women at senior level. Women hold 22% of high-level executive roles and just 14% of board-level director roles. Meat Business Women is changing this by raising the profile of women in the global meat industry and connecting female talent through networking and mentoring opportunities as well as conferences and awards.

Meat Business Women is the global professional networking group for women working in the meat industry. Assuring the sustainability of our sector by attracting & retaining the best possible talent

Its mission is to inspire, network and grow the female talent within the meat sector.
