One4all’s Shop4Crumlin fundraising initiative returns this month

  • Deirdre O’Kane and One4all launch a nationwide search to find Ireland’s funniest joke in aid of CHI Ireland
  • One4all’s Shop4Crumlin week returns from 19th - 27th September 2020
  • 50c from every transaction made using a One4all Gift Card or One4all Digital Gift Card during Shop4Crumlin week will go to the CMRF Giggle Fund
  • Five One4all retail partners will increase 50c donation to €1 per transaction

One4all, Ireland’s leading gift card company, has announced the return of its annual Shop4Crumlin fundraising initiative for a sixth year. Taking place this month from Saturday September 19th – Sunday September 27th, 2020, the campaign will raise funds for the CMRF Giggle Fund – the principle fundraising body for Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) Crumlin. The CMRF Giggle Fund is dedicated to bringing joy to CHI Crumlin patients, by organising small celebrations for them such as pyjama parties, pizza nights and new toys.

To support fundraising efforts for the Giggle Fund, One4all has enlisted actress and comedian Deirdre O’Kane to help find the funniest joke in Ireland. If you have a joke that will draw some hearty laughs from both kids and adults alike, a real side splitting gag that you feel is guaranteed to bring a smile to many, now is your chance to prove it while supporting an important cause.

One4all and Deirdre O’Kane have today launched a new competition which will see one joker not only win a €100 One4all Gift Card, but the opportunity to give the young patients at CHI Crumlin the best medicine – a good laugh.

To enter the competition, submit your favourite joke here and fill out the competition form with your details. The competition closes at midnight on 10th September when all jokes will be shared with Deirdre who will judge all the entries, choosing one that really tickles her funny bone. Entrants are encouraged to keep an eye on both @deirdreokane123 and @one4allireland on Instagram where the winner and their winning joke will be announced in the coming weeks.

Each year at least 120,000 children attend CHI for critical care and support, so there’s no better time than the present to dig out your One4all Gift Cards or Digital Gift Cards and shop ‘til you drop between the 19th – 27th September. During Shop4Crumlin week, One4all will donate 50c to the CMRF Giggle Fund for every transaction made using a One4all Gift Card or Digital Gift Card with any of its 8,500 retail partners nationwide or online – which means the more you swipe or tap your One4all, the more they donate!

Additionally, Penneys, Life Style Sports, Argos, Marks & Spencer and Diesel have partnered with One4all and pledged todonate an additional 50c to the CMRF Giggle Fund for all transactions made in their stores using a One4all Gift Card or Digital Gift Card between the 19th and 27th of September, bringing the total donation to €1 every time a One4all Gift Card is spent. In the past five years, over €140k has been raised for the CMRF Giggle Fund during Shop4Crumlin week, so your support will really make a difference.

Deirdre O’ Kane commented on the 2020 One4all Shop4Crumlin campaign:

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to partner with One4all on this year’s Shop4Crumlin campaign. Covid-19 has greatly impacted the fundraising capabilities of Ireland’s charity sector and this year, the patients of CHI Crumlin perhaps need our giggles and financial support more than ever.

“From submitting your favourite joke to hitting the shops, there are several ways in which you can easily get involved with the One4all Shop4Crumlin campaign. I encourage you to support the initiative as much as you can and give CHI Crumlin patients and the public a much-needed giggle while at the same time, digging out your One4all Gift Cards to use during Shop4Crumlin week. If you can this month, shop, joke and bring a smile to some children who would really benefit from a laugh or two.”

Aoife Davey, Senior Marketing Director at One4all, added:

“We are thrilled to gain the support of one of Ireland’s most beloved comedians and personalities, Deirdre O’Kane, for our Shop4Crumlin initiative this year. Covid-19 has significantly disrupted the fundraising efforts of many charities, including the CMRF Giggle Fund, so this year’s Shop4Crumlin campaign comes at a critical juncture for them. Getting involved with this year’s campaign is simple  – all you have to do is swipe your One4all Gift Cards as much as possible from the 19th-27th of September and tell us your favourite joke, helping to bring a little joy to the patients of CHI Crumlin, one giggle at a time.”
