Lidl are delighted to announce the donation of more than 4 million meals to more than 350 charities through its partnership with FoodCloud.
Lidl Ireland first partnered with FoodCloud in 2017, the purpose of the collaboration is to reduce food waste and redistribute surplus food from the retailer's 217 stores and distribution centres to local charities. FoodCloud is an Irish social enterprise which connects businesses with surplus foods to charities in need.
Leading the way in sustainability in the Irish retail sector continues to be a priority for Lidl Ireland. This recent milestone achieved in April this year has resulted in over 1.7 million kg of food being prevented from going to waste and 5.3 million KGs of C02 from being emitted.
