Posted on: 11 Jan 2023

A small local shop in the Ballyfermot area in Dublin has been revealed as the selling location for Sunday’s (8th of January) Daily Million top prize ticket worth an amazing €1,000,000.

The winning quick pick ticket was sold on the day of the draw at Londis, Ballyfermot in Drumfin, Dublin 10.

It is the second big win for the store in just two months which sold a winning Christmas Countdown scratch card worth €100,000 on the 23rd of November last year.

At the announcement, assistant manager Sonny Butt said: “We’re a local store embedded in the community. This is our second big win for the shop. We sold a scratch card worth €100,000 just before Christmas so our customers are very excited. We feel very famous in here at the moment with all the media attention!” he said.

Sandra Carrick has been a Sales Assistant at the store since it opened in 2007. She revealed what this latest win means for everyone in the shop: “I’ve been here in this store since day one. I’d know all the customers personally and really hope it’s one of our regulars who’ve won and that the money is going back into our community here. The win has really given us a boost and lifted staff morale. We wish the winner the very best of luck and hope they spend it wisely!”, she said.

The National Lottery can confirm the Dublin winner has made contact with the claims department and arrangements are being made for them to collect their prize.

Thursday’s €1 million Daily Million winner is the first such winner of the game in 2023 and the winner is also the 2nd National Lottery Millionaire of 2022.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language.
