Dublin Man Discovers €500,000 Win After Finding Tickets in his Beard Trimming Box!

Another GUARANTEED Irish Millionaire to be Made with Tomorrow’s EuroMillions ‘Ireland Only Raffle’

The members of a North Dublin family syndicate has revealed they will celebrate their €1 million win by catching up on sleep since they found out they are Ireland’s newest millionaires.

The family won the EuroMillions ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ which was part of Tuesday’s draw (3rd December), which saw one Irish EuroMillions player win a guaranteed €1 million.

Speaking about their win, a member of the syndicate said: “It was about 10pm and I was checking the numbers from the EuroMillions draw online and saw that I had none of them. Then, as I always do to be doubly sure, I scanned the ticket using the National Lottery app and it said I was a winner and I should contact the Lottery. I went back online to check again and saw that I was a raffle winner. I thought it was €5,000 (where 10 Irish players win €5,000 raffle prize for every EuroMillions draw) and I was jumping around the house. I called my daughter who was only after walking up the stairs to bed and she checked it. I thought, lovely, I’m going to get a new kitchen out of this. Then she said: ‘Mam, I think you’ve won a million quid!’”

“I didn’t sleep a wink that night, it’s just amazing to think we won the prize. We’re going straight home to get some sleep first and then maybe we will celebrate and make a few plans on what we can do with our win”, she continued.

This life changing ticket was sold in Texaco/Centra store in the Corporate Business Park in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. The ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ winning code, found on the winning EuroMillions ticket, was IHKM23791.

This is the first of two ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ raffle events being held this week by the National Lottery. As part of tomorrow’s EuroMillions draw (Friday 6th December) each of the 10 ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ winners in that draw not only will win the usual €5,000, but will also be placed in an additional special draw. One of those will also win an additional life-changing €1 million.

EuroMillions Plus Winner

Meanwhile, a South Dublin man claimed a EuroMillions cheque worth €500,000 just an hour after discovering he had won the prize. The man won the top prize on the EuroMillions Plus draw from Friday 22nd October – almost six weeks ago! The winner also revealed that he kept his ticket in the box of his beard trimmer!

Speaking on his serendipitous win he said: “When I buy my lottery tickets I don’t check them after the draws. I tend to hold on a couple of weeks and check a few together. On this occasion I put a few in the box of my beard trimmer when I was emptying my coat pocket and forgot about them. It was only when I used the razor last night I put them back in my pocket and then scanned all seven tickets in a shop this morning. The very first one told me to contact the National Lottery. I also won a total on €19 on the other six tickets!”

He bought his winning ticket at the Bookstation store in Stillorgan Shopping Centre, Co. Dublin.

When quizzed about any plans for his winnings, the man said that he is going to surprise his family with an extra special Christmas present this year and share it with them all.

How the ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ works

For each line purchased in every EuroMillions draw in Ireland, a player receives a unique ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ code on their ticket. In every EuroMillions draw, 10 Ireland Only Raffle codes are drawn and those lucky Irish players win €5,000 each.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “There are few better feelings than signing over a cheque to change people’s lives and we’re going to do it all again this Friday night with another ‘Ireland Only Raffle’.– The first time the National Lottery has ever held two such raffles in one week. To be in with a chance to win this guaranteed €1 million prize, as well as the €17 million jackpot, all you need to do is play EuroMillions in-store, online or by using the National Lottery App”.

Since the inception of EuroMillions game 15 years ago, a total of 36 prizes, worth more than €1 million, have been won in Ireland, adding up to a mind-blowing €854,137,850.
