Popular Cooking and Travel Show Tastes Like Home Returns for a Fourth Series Londis also returns as season sponsor

Six incredible cities, twelve emotive families and food cooked with a passion is the recipe for this year’s fourth season of Tastes Like Home with Catherine Fulvio. The popular TV series, sponsored for the fourth successive season by Londis, returns to RTE ONE on Monday 4th November for six consecutive weeks, promising a serving of delicious recipes steeped in tradition as well as glimpses into the culture and sights from locations right across the world.

 

Hosted by Day-Time Emmy nominated Chef Catherine Fulvio, the Tastes Like Home team travelled to Boston-USA, Newfoundland-Canada Portland Maine & New Hampshire-USA as well as Paris-France, Faro-Portugal & Osijek-Croatia, to capture six (6 episodes) individual stories, from contestants who refuse to let the physical distance from home curb their appetite for home-cooked meal that “Tastes Like Home”.

 

As well as re-creating familiar, hearty recipes for loved ones living abroad, the show introduces a series of national dishes and traditional favourites from right across the globe, from the one-of-a-kind hand made Cannoli’s in Boston or going fishing with lobstermen for Maine lobsters to eating traditional Cataplanas and Caracóis (snails) in Portugal, or Partridgeberries and Cod Tongues in Newfoundland or in Osijek, Croatia we discover the smokey flavours of a ‘fish-paprikash’ cooked over an open fire as well as their traditional “Krempita” (cream pie), in France Catherine learnt how to make traditional Croissants from Parisian baker.

 

Catherine Fulvio said “In Tastes like Home this year I experienced a veritable feast of flavours with local cuisine stretching from Central Europe to the tip of Canada, the series is packed with experiences of local culture and delectable dishes covering everything from snails to lobster, from croissants to apple cider donuts, but the highlight for sure is the families, their emotional stories and their heart-warming dishes.”

 

Apart from the buffet of culinary delights, viewers will also receive a flavour of the culture of many of the contestants’ foreign homes and the traditions of their friends and families.

Again this season we feature a wide variety of stories. Viewers have the opportunity to see behind the scenes in Boston’s Fenway Park as well as a visit to the iconic “Cheers Pub”. In New Hampshire we visit America’s Stonehenge and try to understand more about who might have built it ? In Osijek, Croatia we grind flour to make bread in a working river mill on the river Drava, in Paris we visit the oldest ice-cream parlour and take a food tour, in Faro, Portugal we visit markets & a bone chapel and in Newfoundland Catherine got ‘Screeched In” and went whale watching.
