Retail Excellence to create a practical guide to support Irish retailers' sustainability journey

Posted on: 16 Feb 2022

The organization is seeking input from retailers through a short survey

Climate change affects all our lives as well as the planet, and sustainable business practices are becoming increasingly important. But what does this mean for the Irish retail industry? That’s what Retail Excellence, in conjunction with Think Plan Do Consulting and behavioural science consultancy BehaviourWise, aim to find out.

The trio have launched an anonymous survey on sustainable business practices, which can be found here. Taking no more than 10-12 minutes to complete, the survey aims to assess Irish retailers’ attitudes towards and knowledge of sustainable business practices, as well as find out what moves they plan to make in the future. The emphasis is on finding out what barriers retailers are facing in order to help them get over these hurdles.

Respondents will also be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a Me2You gift card worth €250.

Commenting on the survey, Sharon Yourell, Managing Director, Think Plan Do Consulting, said:

“This initiative is deep diving the topic of sustainability specifically within Irish retail, looking at current views amongst the retail community here on sustainability, understanding the barriers that retailers are facing, how certain retailers within both the Irish community and globally are overcoming these barriers …  It is vital that we get a clear starting point on where retailers are when it comes to sustainability, as we look to support them.  As far as we know, this initiative is the first of its kind specifically focused on supporting the retailers to go on the journey.”
