TV cook Skehan challenges our 'most imaginative' meal-makers

Posted on: 06 Jul 2022

Celebrity cook and television presenter, Donal Skehan has once again joined with banana importers Fyffes, this time in search of Ireland’s most imaginative meal-makers. Their quest is to find the most delicious dish, savoury or sweet, in which a banana is the key ingredient.

Having discovered the talents of Cobh native Gillian Carney (best banana bread baker 2020) and Drumcondra student Roisin Gallagher (best banana dessert maker 2021), Skehan has broadened his search to include any dish on the menu from first to final course.

Focusing on any serving from starter to sweet, the challenge he puts to competitors is “to create an appetising recipe that will demonstrate the versatility of bananas as an ingredient, whether in meals that are cooked, baked, boiled, blended and everything in between.”

Open to mums, dads and the younger generation, rewards will go to the overall winner and best in category, including junior entrants, best breakfast, savoury, dessert, no bake and vegan. Entries close August 4th. Details on Facebook (www.facebook.com/FyffesIreland) and Instagram (www.instagram.com/fyffesireland/).

Commenting, Fyffes head of marketing Emma Hunt-Duffy says: “with a host of new categories added this year, we’re really looking forward to receiving some exceptional and original entries.”
