The iconic dance battle concept Red Bull Dance Your Style will come to Ireland for the very first time on Saturday September 30th, when Dublin’s Dundrum Town Centre plays host to a celebration of dance, music and performance which will see 16 of Ireland’s top dancers go head to head for the national title.
The mixed one-on-one battle format of Red Bull Dance Your Style welcomes dancers from any street style, creating a truly unique party atmosphere that has already taken cities from over thirty countries across the globe by storm.
Each battle is an exchange of diverse styles, with audiences treated to hip-hop, popping, house, locking and other street dance styles. DJs blast well-known tracks at random, challenging each dancer’s ability to perform and adapt their dance styles to the rhythm of the beat. From funk to pop music, rap to garage, old-school classics to recent chart hits - at Red Bull Dance Your Style, there is a flavour for all tastes.
What sets Red Bull Dance Your Style apart from other dance competitions is the role played by the crowd. There is no panel of judges voting for the winner. Instead, the winner of each battle is decided on a crowd vote. Showmanship and expression of individuality are key here. Ultimately, the dancer who wins the crowd, wins the battle.
The prize for the winner? Representing Ireland at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals in Frankfurt this November, when the world's best dancers will compete against each other in electrifying one-on-ones.
Red Bull Dance Your Style takes place at Pembroke Square in Dundrum Town Centre at 1pm on Saturday September 30th. The people of Dublin will be given a taste for the action the week of the competition, when two members of Red Bull’s international dance crew, StalaMuerte and Dassy Lee, come to town to showcase the unique high-energy format across the city.
