Aramark Volunteers to Transform Outdoor Learning Space at An Cosán Community Special School

Posted on: 20 Nov 2025

Aramark Ireland colleagues recently joined forces for the company’s annual Aramark Building Community Day (ABC Day), volunteering their time to create a brighter, more engaging outdoor space at An Cosán Community Special School, which is under the patronage of City of Dublin Education and Training Board.

The team worked together to create a vibrant and fun environment for its students to enjoy. As part of Aramark’s on-going commitment to supporting local communities, a team of ten volunteers donated their time and skills to install new play and sensory features designed to enhance the children’s learning and wellbeing. The project, which has received more than €3,400 in funding, included a mud kitchen and two water walls to encourage sensory play, tables and seating to promote outdoor learning and social interaction, brightly coloured tarps to decorate the fencing and create a cheerful atmosphere, and sensory stepping stones with fresh paintwork to enhance the outdoor space.

Jason Keegan, Vice President of Aramark Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to continue our ABC Day tradition at An Cosán Community Special School. This project was a real team effort and a reminder of what can be achieved when people come together to make a difference. Our colleagues care deeply about giving back to the communities where we live and work, and it was incredibly rewarding to help create a space where children can play, learn, and thrive.

Mairéad O’Brien, Principal of An Cosán Community Special School, added:

“We are delighted to welcome the Aramark team to our school. Their support will make a huge difference to our pupils, creating an engaging, colourful, and inclusive outdoor space that encourages creativity, learning, and fun. We are very grateful for their generosity and hands-on help.”

Aramark’s Building Community Day (ABC Day) is a cornerstone of its commitment to strengthening communities and creating positive, lasting change. Each year, Aramark volunteers across Ireland and Northern Ireland take part in projects that improve local facilities, promote wellbeing, and support the people and organisations that make communities thrive.
