Blend: Cavan trio serve up a taste of Christmas with Lidl Ireland as retailer launches trending new festive tipple

Posted on: 18 Dec 2025

Three agri-food suppliers from Cavan have proven to be the cream of the crop for Lidl Ireland this Christmas as the retailer officially launched its brand new Dundalgan Toffee Yum Yum Liqueur which sees a trio of local suppliers - Terra Spirits & Liqueurs, Ice Cream Treats and Lakeland Dairies - benefit from new and expanded supply deals with Ireland’s leading discount retailer.

Inspired by the retailer’s trending Toffee Yum Yum bakery product - a twisted doughnut-like pastry that is deep-fried and covered in a sweet toffee-flavored glaze - the already trending new drink was created by Lidl’s longstanding partner Terra Spirits & Liqueurs in Bailieborough, Cavan in response to overwhelming consumer demand for the tasty treat.

Alongside the festive new product launch, Terra Spirits & Liqueurs, who also supply Lidl’s own-brand liqueur range, have also secured a new export deal with Lidl Ireland which sees 2.5 million bottles of Lidl’s Deluxe cream liqueurs exported internationally.

Crafted locally using cream sourced from neighbouring supplier Lakeland Dairies, who are also a long-standing Cavan-based supplier to Lidl Ireland, the Deluxe Irish Cream Liqueur range includes Lidl’s Deluxe Irish Cream Liqueur, Dundalgan Espresso Martini, Dundalgan Salted Caramel Liqueur and the new Toffee Yum Yum Liqueur.

Shaun McKevitt, Terra Spirits & Liqueurs commented:

“Working closely with Lidl Ireland, we leveraged the public’s love for the in-demand Toffee Yum Yum bakery treat and took inspiration from this amazing product to create a new liqueur just in time for the festive season. Over the last decade, this partnership has contributed significantly to our growth. The export contract secured through Lidl Ireland is transformative, allowing us to dramatically scale our operations further and proudly bring a taste of Cavan to customers around the world.”

Based in Killygarry, Cavan, Lakeland Dairies is a farmer-owned dairy processing co-operative, made up of over 3,200 family run farms, focused on producing the most sustainable, environmentally friendly dairy products. Together, Lakeland Dairies and Terra have been creating Lidl’s indulgent liqueur range from the heart of County Cavan.

Tommy O’Donoghue, Head of Consumer Foods, Lakeland Dairies, commented:

“Lakeland Dairies has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Lidl Ireland, supplying milk  and butter for more than 25 years. We’re very proud to work alongside Terra, a fellow Cavan producer, to supply our high quality cream for their premium cream liqueur range and support this innovative new product launch.”

Demonstrating Lidl Ireland’s support for Irish producers - and particularly the Cavan region - the retailer also confirmed a new seasonal supply deal  Ice Cream Treats based in Killishandra. The brand new partnership sees the award-winning ice cream maker work in partnership for the first time with Terra Spirits & Liqueurs to create a decadent new Christmas dessert - Lidl’s Deluxe Irish Ice Cream which features Terra’s Dundalgan blend within its Irish Creme Liqueur Ice Cream. Over 40,000 tubs of the decadent dessert will be sold over the festive four-week period.

Gerry Sheridan, Managing Director at Ice Cream Treats added:

“It’s been incredible to secure a brand new contract with Ireland’s leading discount retailer and bring our brand new Creme Liqueur Ice Cream to Lidl shoppers across the island of Ireland this Christmas. We’re delighted to work with Terra as a premium, local liqueur supplier to create a unique flavour for the festive season which we know will go down a treat at the dinner table!”

Rebecca Buchanan, Senior Buyer at Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland said:

“Through innovation and partnership, three Cavan-based businesses are enjoying the benefits of this product launch - from Lakeland Dairies increasing supply of its quality cream to Terra, to the launch of Terra’s brand new Toffee Yum Yum Liqueur product paving the way for our brand new supplier Ice Cream Treats to create a bespoke dessert with the liqueur, it really is a full circle moment for three of our valued suppliers. It also demonstrates supplier innovation and what can be achieved working together in partnership for so many years.”
