Lidl Ireland has confirmed it will open the doors to its newly refurbished store in Listowel, Co. Kerry on Thursday 11th December 2025 at 8:00am. The retailer is expanding its presence in North Kerry with this significant €9 million investment in the community.
Located on the John B Keane Road in Listowel, on land adjacent to the retailer’s former premises, the opening of the new Lidl store marks a major milestone in the retailer’s ambitious expansion and refurbishment programme, delivering a €9 million investment into the local community and creating an additional five permanent retail jobs to the already 20-strong team.
Planning for the development was approved in July 2022, with construction commencing in late May of this year.
Kerry LGFA Player, Cait Lynch will have the honour of cutting the ribbon at 8:00am sharp on Thursday 11th December and meeting and greeting shoppers as they enjoy opening day festivities.
Lidl Listowel will have a great range of opening day offers available for customers, with the first ten shoppers through the doors receiving complimentary Lidl gift vouchers to redeem in-store.
As part of its commitment to the local community, the Lidl Listowel store team has selected local charities Nano Nagle Listowel and Kerry Parents and Friends Association to benefit from a generous donation of €500 each in Lidl vouchers on opening day.
Built to Lidl's established 'concept' design, the new Listowel store sits on a 2,493 sq. metre site and boasts a spacious 1,645 sq. metre sales floor, offering customers a premier shopping experience with expanded aisle space, in-store bakery and two DRS machines. Prioritising customer convenience, a standout feature of the new store is the increased number of tillpoints - 11 in total, six of which are new self-service checkouts for speedier shopping.
Externally, the newly landscaped site contains in excess of 140 car parking spaces, bike parking spaces and staff and customer electric vehicle (EV) charging points.
As Ireland’s Most Sustainable Retailer, the new Listowel store has been built with sustainability at its core, with high performing, energy efficient technologies embedded throughout and almost 1,000 sq. metres of solar PV roof panels.
The new store opening in Listowel comes just weeks after Lidl Ireland opened another brand new store in Killorglin, County Kerry, as well as its 190th store in Ballymahon, County Longford.
Ahead of the store opening Tara O Connor, Regional Managing Director for Lidl Ireland said:
