Posted on: 21 May 2025

Lidl Ireland is delighted to announce the re-opening of the newly redeveloped Lidl located on Ballyfermot Road on Thursday 29th May at 8:00am.

The new and improved Lidl store will provide customers with an enhanced shopping experience, with high ceilings, wider aisles, new self-service checkouts, two Deposit Return Scheme machines, as well as larger in-store bakery and off licence.

As part of the opening, Dublin Ladies Gaelic Footballer Éilish O’Dowd will join the Dublin Ballyfermot store team and customers to officially cut the ribbon on the newly redeveloped store. In addition, the retailer will provide complimentary vouchers to the first ten customers in line on the morning, alongside offering huge savings on middle aisle favourites.

There will also be a family fun day on the opening day for customers to get involved with face painting, entertainment, a play area, music, and more. Local Lidl suppliers Panelto Foods and Liffey Meats will be on hand to provide samples of some of the retailers award-winning products to shoppers.

Advancing Lidl Ireland’s community-focused objectives under its 'A Better Tomorrow' sustainability programme, and to mark the re-opening, the employees at Lidl’s Ballyfermot store have chosen to donate €1,000 in Lidl vouchers to the Ballyfermot Family Resource Centre.

Speaking ahead of Lidl’s Ballyfermot Store Opening Niall Murray, Regional Managing Director said:

"Having served the Ballyfermot community since 2006, we are delighted to announce the re-opening of our Lidl Ballyfermot store in Dublin later this month, bringing a revitalised shopping experience to local community. There has been a lot of excitement in the area about the refurbished store, and we’d like to thank the customers and local community for their patience during the refurbishment. The store looks fantastic, offering an enhanced shopping experience, featuring express tills and self-service check outs. We’re very excited to re-open the doors and welcome shoppers to experience the new features of the store and join us in celebrating the highly anticipated re-opening on Thursday 29th May.”

Commenting ahead of the store opening Dublin LGFA player Éilish O’Dowd added:

“I’m really looking forward to opening the newly refurbished Ballyfermot store and meeting all the shoppers on opening day. Lidl has been a fantastic partner to LGFA over the years, and it's great to see them investing even more in the local community. The new self-service checkouts will be a great addition to the store, and we can't wait to celebrate the re-opening with everyone on May 29th!”
