Lidl Ireland’s festive Trolley Dash bags more than €270k for Family Carers Ireland

Posted on: 09 Dec 2025

Lidl Ireland today announced the incredible success of its annual Christmas charity drive, the Lidl Trolley Dash, confirming that the campaign raised an astounding €272,060 in aid of its charity partner, Family Carers Ireland.

The highly anticipated annual event, which offered customers the chance to win a supermarket sweep style 2-minute dash around the aisles to fill a trolley with free groceries, saw tens of thousands of customers purchase tickets throughout November, with 190 lucky winners (one for every Lidl store across the country) selected to take part in the dash on Saturday 6th December at their local Lidl.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated directly to Family Carers Ireland, the national organisation supporting over 500,000 family carers across the country.

The fundraising total of €272,060 is a remarkable achievement and underscores the generosity of Lidl customers. It also adds significantly to the wider in-store fundraising campaigns held this year.

Eimear O’Sullivan, Corporate Affairs Director at Lidl Ireland said:

“We are absolutely delighted by the overwhelming generosity of our customers this year. The Lidl Trolley Dash is a much-loved festive tradition, and to see a total of €272,060 raised is simply incredible. 100% of these crucial funds will directly support the vital work of Family Carers Ireland, making a tangible difference to carers and their families right across the country. On behalf of Lidl, I want to thank everyone who purchased a ticket and supported this essential campaign.”

Catherine Cox, Head of Communications and Policy at Family Carers Ireland, commented:

“The support from Lidl customers through the Trolley Dash has been phenomenal. This incredible donation is more than just a number; it will help deliver vital supports and services to family carers across Ireland who give so much in caring for their loved ones. These funds will allow us to expand our vital practical and emotional supports, and services, ensuring that the incredible work done by family carers is supported and valued.”

The Trolley Dash initiative is a cornerstone of Lidl’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. Proceeds will be allocated immediately to Family Carers Ireland, enabling them to continue providing essential services, support, and advocacy for family carers in every community.

Earlier this year, Lidl Ireland customers and colleagues supported the Heart of Gold fundraiser which took place in June and saw Heart of Gold pins sold in Lidl stores nationwide for just €2 each, offering customers a meaningful way to show their support to the retailer’s charity partner. Lidl stores also hosted cycling spinathons where customers could donate to support the fundraiser.
