Lidl Ireland has confirmed it will open the doors to its state-of-the-art store in Killorglin, Co. Kerry on Thursday 13th November 2025 at 8:00am, expanding the retailer’s store network to eight in the county and bringing the retailer’s ‘More to Value’ proposition to the Killorglin community.
Located on Laharn Road, the opening of Lidl Killorglin marks a major milestone in the retailer’s ambitious expansion programme and creates 30 permanent retail jobs for the community in what has been a highly anticipated opening, with planning permission granted earlier this year.
Kerry ladies Gaelic football star and Lidl ambassador Siofra O’Shea will have the honour of cutting the ribbon at 8:00am sharp on Thursday 13th November and meeting and greeting shoppers enjoying opening day festivities.
Lidl Killorglin will have a great range of opening day offers available for customers and the first twenty shoppers through the doors will receive complementary Lidl gift vouchers to redeem in-store.
As part of its commitment to the local community, the Lidl Killorglin store team has selected two local charities, St Vincent De Paul and Family Carers Ireland, for a donation of €1000 in Lidl vouchers on opening day.
The new Killorglin store reflects Lidl’s established ‘concept’ design and features a spacious 1,398 sqm sales floor area, offering a premier shopping experience for customers self-service checkouts, long tills, and the popular in-store bakery offering fresh baked goods daily.
Sustainability is a key focus for the Killorglin store as the retail unit incorporates an ISO 50001-certified energy management system. This includes high performing energy efficient technologies, the installation of solar panels (PV panels), LED lighting with Dali control, and heat recovery systems. Within the 119-space car park, the provision of a number of bike spaces and electric vehicle (EV) charging points further supports sustainable transport options for customers and store teams.
Ahead of the store opening Tara O’Connor, Regional Managing Director for Lidl Ireland said:
“At Lidl, we have had an ambition to bring our market leading value to Killorglin for many years and we are delighted to finally welcome the local community to the new store next week when doors open on Thursday.
The Killorglin store represents a major investment for Lidl, contributing significantly to the local economy and providing long term employment for the area. It’s also a key milestone in our ambitious expansion programme, taking our store network to 189 stores in Ireland.
Built to prioritise customer experience and sustainability, our innovative new store incorporates an energy-efficient design and includes unique store features and convenient customer amenities. We are grateful for the support the local community has shown us and we are excited to welcome shoppers through the doors to experience the new store and avail of Lidl’s high-quality products at market-leading value.”
Lidl Ambassador and Kerry LGFA Player, Síofra O Shea, added:
“As a Kerry local, it’s great to see Lidl continue to expand across the county and open a brand new store here in Killorglin. It’s a fantastic boost for the local community, not only in terms of revitalising the area and creating new jobs, but also providing local shoppers with access to Lidl’s amazing quality food at great value. Lidl has been a long-standing supporter of LGFA across Ireland for a decade now and it’s great to see that Lidl’s commitment extends far beyond just grocery aisles - it’s about fostering local growth and giving back to communities and I’m thrilled that Killorglin is now a part of that. I’m really looking forward to opening day and getting the chance to meet everyone - make sure you get down early!”
Lidl opened its first store in Kerry in Killarney in 2000 and currently employs more than 130 people locally across its existing stores in Listowel, Dingle, Killarney, Kenmare, Castleisland, and two stores in Tralee.

Earlier this year, Lidl Ireland confirmed that a total of €3 million worth of goods and services was procured from 18 suppliers and business partners across Kerry in 2024. Key Kerry suppliers include Listowel’s Prestige Foods, who have been supplying chilled and frozen desserts since 2013. Last year, Lidl also entered into a €2 million supply deal with Kerry Dairy Ireland for its own brand infant formula range.
