Nestlé Ireland and Nespresso Ireland joined forces for an annual “Helping Hands” day as part of its first ever volunteering event with new charity partner, Barretstown, with a 70 strong team coming on site to help the Barretstown team in a wide range of maintenance work.
Earlier this year Nestlé Ireland agreed a three-year partnership with the charity, Ireland’s largest provider of psychosocial support for children affected by cancer and other serious illnesses. Nestlé Ireland have committed to raising over €100,000 during the lifetime of the partnership and including supporting the work of Barretstown through a series of on-site activities.
The first ever Nestlé and Nespresso ‘Helping Hands’ offered participants a meaningful opportunity to engage with Barretstown’s work first-hand and to learn of its impact on the lives of children and young people in communities across the country.
Following a tour of the campus and in-depth presentation on Barretstown and its history, including its foundation by Paul Newman, Hollywood actor and philanthropist in 1994, the teams set to work, rolling up the sleeves to help out with painting, wedding, site preparation and tree planting.
Kieran Conroy, Managing Director at Nestlé Ireland said: “We’re delighted to support Barretstown and to witness its incredible facilities that transform the lives of thousands of children and their families each year. Working on the ground was eye-opening for everyone involved, revealing the true magic of Barretstown and the impact it achieves. Nestlé staff gained a deeper understanding of the charity’s mission and the vital role our partnership will play in supporting communities across Ireland, and we look forward to deepening the relationship further in the coming years, through activities such as Helping Hands, and others.”
