ALDI Jigginstown to reopen after a €4 million revamp

Posted on: 17 Aug 2026

ALDI Ireland is preparing to officially reopen its Jigginstown store in Naas on Thursday, August 20th at 8:00am following a €4 million upgrade and expansion, making it bigger, brighter, and a better experience for local shoppers.

The Jigginstown store originally opened in 2011 and has become an essential part of Naas’s retail landscape. The store has been closed since 7th June to facilitate the refurbishment works. ALDI’s other Naas store, located on the Monread Road, had its own €3.5 million upgrade in 2025.

The newly expanded Jigginstown store includes the addition of a new bakery serving freshly baked bread and treats daily. The revamped premises will have four new electric charging points, two standard EV charging spaces and two accessible EV charging spaces, along with 10 bike parking spaces.

The redesign follows ALDI’s award-winning ‘Project Fresh’ layout, providing shoppers with an improved shopping experience and a larger floor space, which has expanded by more than a third from 846 sqm to 1,142 sqm.

This investment is part of ALDI’s continued expansion across Ireland, which brings great quality groceries at everyday low prices to more communities while supporting local jobs and enhancing the customer shopping experience.

Welcoming the development, Tomas Brchl, ALDI Jigginstown Store Manager, said: “We’re counting down the days until we can welcome the people of Naas back through our doors. The €4 million investment isn’t just about upgrading the store; it’s about creating a better shopping experience for our customers, while continuing to offer great value.”

“Having worked with ALDI since 2014, I’ve witnessed the company’s growth first-hand, making it especially rewarding to lead the reopening of our newly renovated Jigginstown store. We’re proud to be part of the local community and look forward to welcoming customers back through our doors.”

“At ALDI, it really isn’t complicated – just great quality, great value, and a better shopping experience for our customers in Naas.”

ALDI Price Drops

Last month, ALDI announced its biggest-ever price drops campaign, lowering the cost of a typical weekly shop by up to 20%. ALDI has delivered more than €30 million in savings this year for shoppers through price reductions since January, as part of ALDI’s continued promise to make the good life affordable for all.

Tips from a Local ALDI Leader

The Store Manager, Tomas has more than a decade of experience with ALDI, having started his career in 2014 as a Store Assistant in ALDI Santry. Over the years, he has worked across a number of stores, including Bray, Swords, Rathmines, Trim, and Portlaoise, building extensive retail experience and a deep understanding of the business. Tomas is proud to lead the ALDI Jigginstown team and is excited for the future of the newly renovated store as it reopens its doors to customers.

Ahead of the reopening, Tomas has shared his top tips to help customers get the most out of the newly refurbished store. “Firstly, look out for Irish suppliers. ALDI works with great producers nationwide, including ABP Food Group, my favourite is the Specially Selected Irish Black Angus Fillet Steak. Many of ALDI’s Irish products have unbelievable quality and have the awards to back it up. That’s something I’m always very proud to see on our shelves. I know customers are not only getting the best prices for the best quality – they’re supporting local businesses.”

“The new Project Fresh layout in our store makes it easier than ever to pick up fresh Irish meat, dairy and veg, and we’ve recently implemented price drops right across these ranges too,” he added.

Tomas also gives some suggestions on how customers can get even further value from their ALDI shop. “ALDI’s Too Good To Go surprise bags are always a huge hit. Costing €3.99, they contain food worth at least €12 and in the last three years we have sold more than 385,000 of these bags. We also mark-down prices on food approaching its best before date by up to 75%. Not only can you pick up some fantastic bargains, but you can also help us to reduce food waste.”

He added a further suggestion: “One of my top tips would be to save your DRS returns on a Savings Card throughout the year and keep it for Christmas, which can be an expensive time. With September and back to school time just around the corner, Christmas won’t be long coming around, and I’ve found the savings really help take the sting out of the costs.”

As a final tip, he adds: “Know the best time that suits you to shop. For example, our Specialbuys typically land in store on Thursdays and Sundays, so these can be good days to grab those new items as soon as they hit the shelves – check the leaflets to find out the sales dates in advance!”

“For those interested, our quietest (and quickest) time to shop is usually from 8pm to 10pm. Shopping later in the day is also a great time to spot some of the marked down fresh fruit, vegetable and meat products. We also run autism-friendly hours every Tuesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, providing a quieter, more sensory-friendly environment.”

ALDI’s Investment in Kildare

ALDI has made a capital investment of over €55m in Kildare since it opened its first store in Clane in 2004. ALDI is also the best-paying supermarket in Ireland and currently employs over 200 full-time staff across the county. ALDI is committed to growing its Irish supply base and increasing the number of locally produced Irish products available at its 167 stores, and last year spent over €1 billion with its Irish food and drink suppliers.

ALDI has invested more than €11 million in its Grow with ALDI supplier development programme since 2018, which provides an opportunity to Irish food and drink companies to gain a listing in ALDI’s stores nationwide.
