ALDI reopens Clonmel store following €3.8M revamp and extension

Posted on: 23 Jun 2022

ALDI today unveiled its newly revamped and extended Clonmel store following a €3.8 million overhaul. The store has been redesigned to be as environmentally friendly as possible and is powered by 100% green electricity.

Over the past two months the store has undergone a complete refurbishment, including the building of a new extension, increasing the shop floor space by 25%. Featuring ALDI’s exciting award-winning Project Fresh layout and design, the floor size has been extended from 1,119sqm to 1,405sqm, and features wide aisles and hi-spec fixtures and fittings. There are also 133 car park spaces available to ALDI shoppers, along with a bicycle rack stand.

ALDI is offering a wide range of special re-opening offers at its Clonmel store including a Pressure Washer for just €84.99 (reduced from €109.99) and an Upright Steamer for just €34.99 (reduced from €54.99). There are lots more Specialbuys too – all at amazing prices!

Speaking at the store re-opening, Richard Blake, ALDI Clonmel Store Manager said: “Our new and improved store is fantastic news for local shoppers! The spacious design means it is easier for Clonmel customers to pick up what they need, and our aim is to ensure the very best customer shopping experience.”

ALDI’s Investment in Co. Tipperary

ALDI has made a capital investment of €29.4 million in Co. Tipperary since 2003. ALDI is the best paying supermarket in Ireland and currently employs over 140 full-time staff across the county.

Community Support

ALDI’s existing stores across Co. Tipperary are deeply involved in their local communities. To date, the stores have donated almost 160,000 meals to local charities through FoodCloud, saving the charities more than €200,000. Each store is also part of ALDI’s Community Grants network, with Clonmel Scout Group, Suir Haven Cancer Group and PAWS Animal Rescue some of the several charities that have availed of the €500 bursary grant last year.

In addition to supporting local charities, ALDI is the first retailer in Ireland to commit to planting 1M native Irish woodland trees by 2025, in collaboration with Green Belt, with over 430,000 trees planted to date.

ALDI is also investing in a Deposit Return Scheme across its store network, with a trial launching earlier this year in the Mitchelstown store and another trial set to roll out in Mallow this summer.

Supplier Support

ALDI currently partners with 11 Irish food and drink producers across Co. Tipperary and spent €127 million with its Co. Tipperary suppliers in 2021. ALDI is committed to growing its Irish supply base and increasing the number of locally produced Irish products available at its stores. Last year, ALDI spent €1 billion with its Irish food and drink suppliers.

ALDI has invested more than €5.5 million in its Grow with ALDI supplier development programme since 2018, which offers up-and-coming artisan Irish food and drink producers the chance to have their products listed in ALDI’s 150 stores.

The Clonmel store opening hours are:
