Posted on: 06 Feb 2024

Folláin, the West Cork based producer of wholesome and delicious jams and preserves, is delighted to announce it has raised €18,000 for the Simon Communities of Ireland as a result of the success of its recent Christmas charity donation campaign.

Folláin committed to donating half of all of its online sale proceeds throughout the Christmas period (13th of November to December 31st).In it’s second year running, the Simon Communities of Ireland initiative topped last year’s contribution (€15,000).

Speaking about the decision to work with the charity, 2nd generation Folláin family member Mícheál Ó Lionáird said,

“This year Folláin is celebrating 40 years in business - The home is where it all began for us and as such, we feel compelled to support Simon’s efforts to bring an end to homelessness. For the second year in a row we worked hard to ensure that our contribution would help this worthy organisation carry out its valuable work. We are absolutely delighted with the final amount we are able to donate to The Simon Communities of Ireland, and we feel it demonstrates the place that Simon occupies in the hearts and minds of our customers and the wider public, especially at a time when so many people are facing personal financial challenges and upheaval”.

The 2024 donation to The Simon Communities of Ireland kicks off a busy year for Folláin, one which also marks the company’s 40 year anniversary, and as part of their birthday celebrations, Folláin hopes to continue their working relationship with Simon.

Wayne Stanley, Executive Director of Simon Communities of Ireland, has thanked Folláin for their support,

“At a time when there are over 13,318 men, women and children accessing emergency accommodation services across the country, the work of Simon Communities of Ireland has never been needed more. We are so grateful to have received such generous support from Folláin and their family of supporters. Your kindness will help Simon to continue to support the most vulnerable people in our local communities, those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Thank you for your continued support.”
