Lidl Ireland today confirmed that it will open its new Baltinglass store at 8am on Thursday 28th May, with Wicklow LGFA star and Baltinglass local Ella Parke having the honour of cutting the ribbon on the highly anticipated new store.
Lidl Baltinglass will have a great range of opening day offers available for customers on opening day and the first ten shoppers through the doors will receive complimentary Lidl gift vouchers to redeem in-store.
Located at Weaver’s Square, the retailer received mammoth support from over 1,500 local residents who campaigned to demonstrate the town’s demand to bring Lidl into the locality and provide access to quality, affordable groceries.
The fresh new store has created 22 permanent local jobs for the community and has supported over 100 construction jobs during the development and build phase.
Featuring a spacious sales floor of 1,420 sq.m, customers will soon be able to enjoy a premier shopping experience in the modernised store including self-checkouts, an off-licence, an in-store bakery, customer restrooms with baby changing facilities, and a spacious car park. The site also provides two Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) machines for customer use. Environmentally friendly design is a priority for the Baltinglass store, which has been fitted with high-performing energy-efficient technologies and rooftop solar (PV) panels to reduce its carbon footprint in the local community.
Speaking ahead of the ribbon-cutting, Wicklow LGFA star Ella Parke said:
"I am absolutely delighted to be officially opening the new Lidl store in Baltinglass. As a local, I know that the community has been campaigning for the last number of years for Lidl to come to Baltinglass and there’s a real excitement in the air ahead of its opening. Locals have had to travel to the likes of Athy, Tullow or Carlow to access the nearest Lidl so this is a massive boost for the area. I really look forward to cutting the ribbon on opening day and seeing the community enjoy this fantastic new store.”
Damien Ryan, Regional Property Director, commented on the new development:
“We are thrilled to confirm an opening date for our new Baltinglass store which will bring Lidl’s quality and unbeatable value to the community for the first time. More than anything, this opening belongs to the local community. The sheer passion and dedication of the residents who came together to bring Lidl to the town was incredibly inspiring, and we wanted to deliver a store they could be proud of. Designed with both exceptional customer experience and sustainability in mind, this innovative new building features an energy-efficient design, unique in-store offerings, and excellent facilities. I am really looking forward to welcoming locals into the store on the 28th of May.”
