Lidl Ireland has officially opened the doors to its brand-new store in Blackrock, Dundalk this morning, bringing its 'More to Value' proposition and a state-of-the-art shopping experience to the local community.
Located on the Old Golf Links Rd, the new store marks a major milestone in the retailer’s expansion programme, securing 20 new permanent retail jobs following an extensive development phase.
Louth LGFA captain Áine Breen had the honour of cutting the official ribbon and greeting shoppers as opening day festivities got underway. The first ten shoppers through the doors were greeted with complimentary €20 Lidl gift vouchers to redeem in-store, alongside exclusive opening day offers.
To mark the opening and demonstrate its ongoing commitment to the local community, the store team selected local charity St Vincent de Paul (SVP) in Dundalk to receive a donation of €1,000 in Lidl gift vouchers. The charity supports and empowers individuals and families who are facing poverty.
With an investment figure of over €9 million, the new Blackrock store incorporates Lidl’s modern concept design, featuring a spacious 1,500 sq.m sales floor, self-service checkouts, long tills, and a popular in-store bakery offering freshly baked goods daily. The development also includes a 203 sq m. cafe unit which is currently planned to be occupied shortly after the store opening.
Sustainability is embedded throughout the Blackrock store, which incorporates an ISO 50001-certified energy management system, high-performance energy-efficient technologies, rooftop solar PV panels, and LED lighting with Dali control. The spacious car park offers 12 electric vehicle (EV) charging units and dedicated bicycle parking to encourage sustainable transport options for customers and store teams.
