Twomey’s Bakery Signs New €5 Million Contract Extension with ALDI and Announces New Exciting Products

Posted on: 19 Oct 2026

ALDI Ireland has announced an extension of its existing contract with Limerick-based Twomey’s Bakery for an additional two years. The new contract is worth €2.5 million per annum, valuing the deal at €5 million and will extend the existing relationship between the retailer and the family-owned bakery to more than nine years.

Twomey’s has supplied ALDI with breads, cakes, and in-store baked goods since 2019, reflecting ALDI’s commitment to delivering high-quality products at affordable prices. Based in Dromcollogher, Co. Limerick, the bakery now employs over 25 people in the local area.

Twomey’s Bakery

ALDI’s long-standing relationship with Twomey’s has enabled the local business to expand and innovate, with the producer launching a brand-new range of delicious tartlets exclusively for ALDI shoppers. Available in Chocolate & Caramel, Lemon & White Chocolate and Hazelnut varieties, the tasty new tartlets are priced at just €2.99 and available across ALDI’s store network.

In addition, ALDI customers will also be able to get their hands on an exciting new everyday essential, as Twomey’s launches a brand-new Arán bread range in stores from mid-November. Available in both white and brown varieties, the preservative-free loaves offer the perfect combination of quality, freshness and affordability, all for just €1.49.

ALDI currently supplies a wide range of popular baked goods, including a batch loaf, a chia seed loaf, apple tarts, crumbles, sponge cakes, fruit scones, and a multiseed loaf. The security of a long-term contract, first signed in 2019, has supported the continued growth of Twomey’s. The partnership has enabled the bakery to invest in its facilities and equipment, including a recent expansion of its freezer capacity, allowing it to deliver even more products to ALDI stores nationwide.

In business since 1901, Twomey’s Bakery has been run by four generations of the Twomey family.

This new contract will see Twomey’s increase the volume of products supplied to ALDI stores by 10%.

Laurence Kelly, Buying Director at ALDI Ireland, said: "Working with a supplier such as Twomey's is great. It not only allows us to support Irish businesses, but it also ensures our customers have the best quality Irish products on our shelves. This contract extension is proof that supporting Irish suppliers who produce great quality products doesn't have to be complicated.

By working closely together, we’ve able to deliver even more fantastic, Irish-baked goods to ALDI shoppers nationwide and we look forward to continuing our partnership for many years to come."

Patrick Twomey, Managing Director at Twomey’s Bakery said: "We are delighted to continue our successful partnership with ALDI. This long-term commitment provides our business with the certainty we need to continue investing in our bakery and our employees.

“We take great pride knowing that our bakery supplies ALDI stores nationwide, and we look forward to introducing our new tartlets and Arán bread range to stores."
