Irish whiskey has had an enduring connection with Spanish sherry casks and this single malt from Boann Distillery, nestled in the magical Boyne valley in Co Meath, delves deep into the heart of that relationship.
Having spent the first part of its life in ex-bourbon barrels, the whiskey is finished in some of the finest hand-picked Spanish Pedro Ximenez (PX) sherry casks for nine months, giving it a delicious sherry nose.
Awarded 94 points on Wine Enthusiast last week, it was described as “bold and distinctly sweet”, a fitting description for many’s a Valentine.
